A Trustee (Non-Exec Chair) is required for a counselling charity based in Tenterden, Kent.

Our client Tenterden based Counselling (TCS) is seeking a new Trustee who has an empathy and interest in adult and young person’s Mental Wellbeing   The current Chair is due to step down from the role in April 2020 after 9 years and they are looking for a Trustee who will take over the Chair role.

Candidates should, in addition to an interest in Mental Wellbeing, have some Chairing experience, be financially literate and have the enthusiasm to develop a counselling service that has a growing local need.

This is a voluntary appointment so no remuneration or fees are payable, although out of pocket expenses will be paid.

Trustees are expected to attend 4 (quarterly) Board meetings (held in the evening) per year. There will be additional time required for some discussion in between meetings.  Currently there are no sub-committees.

The Charity

  • Established over 30 years ago, TCS provides professional counselling services to support the mental well-being of those who live in Tenterden and the surrounding area. The Service is a non-profit making charity with no political affiliation.
  • The service seeks to promote personal growth towards psychological and emotional health and wholeness of personality. It offers a professional service with counsellors whose work is professionally supervised.

Non-Exec Director Role/Requirements/Expertise

  • A commitment and interest in Mental Wellbeing and for providing counselling services for adults and young people in Tenterden, and the surrounding villages.
  • Some previous Chair experience.
  • Financially literate – able to understand a Profit and Loss statement.
  • Enthusiasm to develop a service to keep pace with a growing need and to help introduce a new provision for Children’s Counselling.
  • Adherence to high standards of ethics and corporate and charitable behaviour that meets the obligations of a trustee of a charity in England.

 

A DBS check and declaration of interests will be required for the successful candidate prior to appointment.
